Copilot has been able to generate audio overviews for documents and files across OneDrive, Word, and Copilot Notebooks since May. The feature supports either a narrated summary or a podcast-style discussion between two hosts that highlight key points and connections.
- A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required
- Copilot Audio Overview is available for users if they use the supported product in English
This capability is now available as Audio Recap for meetings, part of Intelligent Meeting Recap, for users with a Copilot license. Teams Premium users have no access to Audio Recap.

About the Copilot Audio Overview feature
Copilot can transform supported content into an audio overview that is easy to follow on the go. Users can choose between a narrated summary or a podcast-style conversation where two hosts comment on key points and make connections across topics.
To create an audio overview, open a supported file, click the Copilot icon, and select the prompt to generate it.

Microsoft highlights several limitations for the audio overview feature:
- Supported only for English files.
- Currently works with PDFs, Word documents, and Teams meeting recordings.
- As AI-generated audio, some inaccuracies or glitches may occur.
- Files must contain at least 200 words to generate an overview.
- Processing can take a few minutes.
- Audio overviews cannot be saved if the file is encrypted.
- Daily usage limits may apply.
From my own tests, I was unable to confirm the “English files only” limitation. Microsoft may have already extended language support — I was able to generate an English audio overview from a German file, with Copilot automatically translating the content.
Teams Meeting Audio Recap
After the rollout of Teams Meeting Audio Recap, a new “Audio recap” tab is available in the Meet app on Teams for Windows and Teams Mobile.
Teams meeting audio recap uses AI to capture and summarize key topics discussed in your Teams meetings as engaging audio. It converts meeting transcripts into audio summaries, so you can quickly review highlights from multiple meetings and find important information more efficiently.

- Users can select one or multiple transcribed meetings (up to 8) and choose ‘Generate audio overview.’ Transcription is always required to create an audio recap.
- Audio recaps can be created from meetings held in the last 30 days.
- Generated audio recaps remain available for 60 days before automatic deletion.
- Audio recaps are private and accessible only to the user who generated them.
- Recap files are stored in OneDrive and can be manually deleted before the 60-day expiry.
- Currently, only English audio output is supported. More languages will be added over time.
- Audio recaps may be subject to daily usage limits.
You can find the audio recap in the Meet app, in the meeting chat, or directly in the Teams calendar event once it has been generated.
