In March 2026, Microsoft introduced AI-generated audio summaries in SharePoint Web and Viva Connections Web.
These AI-generated audio summaries are now also available in SharePoint News posts directly within the SharePoint app for Teams (formerly known as Viva Connections app), on Teams Desktop and Teams Mobile.
Instead of reading a news post, users can now choose to hear a short audio overview of the content, giving them another convenient way to catch up on organizational news on the go. The original news post remains fully available. Users can still read the full article whenever they prefer.
There are two different capabilities:
- In the News section, users can listen to the top 10 news posts (personalized by user), also translated into their preferred language if posted in another language. Keep in mind, a SharePoint administrator can disable the News section in case you cannot find it.
- In a News post, users can listen to a short audio briefing for that post (one to two minutes long), also translated into their preferred language if it was posted in another language.
This feature is available to users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. It’s hidden for Copilot Basic users. The rollout should be completed by September 2026.
