Update the work location in Outlook Mobile

Outlook Mobile users can now share where they work each day. Within the Outlook Mobile calendar, users can set or update their work location, whether that is the office or remote, without needing to leave the app or switch to another platform.

As documented, this was previously limited.

The option to change location per day is currently only available in Outlook on the web and Teams Desktop, but will eventually be available in classic Outlook for Windows, iOS, Android, and Mac.

This update should make it much easier for people to keep their colleagues informed about where they will be working, which in turn helps everyone plan meetings and collaborate more smoothly. When someone updates their work location, that information becomes visible to colleagues during the scheduling process, so teams can make better decisions about when and how to meet based on who is in the office and who is working remotely.

  • Custom work locations are not yet supported. Users currently have only the choice between Office or Remote on Outlook Mobile, as on Outlook Web some years ago.

Related to work locations, the current implementation gives users the impression the Outlook Mobile app is a few years behind Outlook Web.
I think Microsoft is building the basics for work locations in the mobile app to extend the capabilities later. I would not recommend updating work locations via Outlook Mobile if you are using custom work locations.

The setup experience from the Outlook Calendar is currently only available in new Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web. Setting up work hours and location in Teams, Outlook Mobile, and Outlook for Mac is upcoming.
Microsoft Support

The rollout for work locations in Outlook Mobile should be completed in July 2026.
