License changes for Microsoft Cloud products – January 2024

Happy New Year, and good luck in 2024.
Microsoft introduced some new licenses on 1 January 2024 and discontinued various licenses as of 31 December 2023.

The following products are affected:

  • Dynamics 365
  • Power platform
  • Microsoft Copilot
  • Azure Information Protection
  • Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit

New licenses

Dynamics 365 Finance Premium

Dynamics 365 Finance Premium has been available for purchase since January 2024, announced in December 2023. The updated Dynamics 365 License Guide includes a table on the differences between Dynamics 365 Finance and Dynamics 365 Finance Premium from page 18. The product ID of Dynamics 365 Finance Premium is CFQ7TTC0NL21.

Dynamics 365 Finance Premium will provide creator access to advanced intelligence, insights, planning, and database capabilities that help customers accelerate business performance. The initial release will focus on creator access to Microsoft’s new extended planning and analysis (xP&A) capabilities that encompass the crucial tasks of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and corporate performance management. Business performance planning will become generally available on December 31, 2023 and customers will need to purchase Dynamics 365 Finance Premium licenses to use these capabilities.

Dynamics 365 Operations Database Capacity (1000 GB)

More database capacity could be purchased per GB until January 2024. Organizations can purchase additional capacity from 1 TB and receive a volume discount. The product ID is CFQ7TTC0NC52.

Dataverse Database Capacity (1000 GB)

More database capacity could be purchased per GB until January 2024. Organizations can purchase additional Dataverse capacity starting at 1 TB and receive a volume discount. The product ID is CFQ7TTC0NCD7.

Licenses no longer available

The following licenses were discontinued as of 31 December 2023 and may expire at the end of the current term.

Microsoft Sales Copilot

Since 31 December 2023, Microsoft Sales Copilot (Product ID CFQ7TTC0R4JH) has been no longer available for (direct) purchase. My attempt to order via the website fails. The product is no longer available.

Power Virtual Agent

All service plans for Power Virtual Agent were removed as of 31 December 2023. Power Virtual Agent has been replaced by Copilot Studio, as communicated. Microsoft describes information on billing for old Legacy Power Virtual Agents here.

Chat session for Virtual Agent

As the service plans for Power Virtual Agent no longer exist, the license for Chat session for Virtual Agent has been removed without replacement. The license will expire at the of the current term. Microsoft describes information on billing for old Legacy Power Virtual Agents here.

Azure Information Protection Premium P1

Since 31 December 2023, the standalone license of Azure Information Protection Premium P1 (Product ID CFQ7TTC0LH9J) has no longer been available. The license will expire at the end of the term. Service plans of license packages (e.g., in Microsoft 365 Business Premium) are not yet affected.

Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit (Standard P1 + P2)

According to the announcement from December 2023, the two licenses Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit – Standard P1 and Standard P2 will no longer be offered from 31 December 2023. The two licenses have been replaced by a free fundraising and engagement offer for non-profit organizations. The offer must be reordered. The old P1 and P2 licenses expire.

On January 1, 2024, the current Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit plans will be simplified to a single plan and renamed Fundraising and Engagement. It will be made available at no additional cost to nonprofits, educational organizations, and commercial customers. These customers will be able to take advantage of the existing vertical solutions (for example: Fundraising and Engagement, Volunteer Management and Engagement, Constituent Marketing Journeys and Program Impact Dashboard) to add incremental value to their existing Microsoft Cloud investments.
