Microsoft is improving code blocks in Teams with line numbers, retained programming language selection, and other enhancements.
The feature allowing Business-licensed Teams users to start chats with external contacts by email address has been canceled. The previously announced feature is no longer available, and guest accounts remain the only way to chat with external users.
Eligible Teams users can now start chats with anyone using an email address, even if the recipient is not on Teams. External contacts receive an email invitation and can join the conversation as guests.
Microsoft is rolling out Collaborative Notes in Teams Chats, stored in new SharePoint Embedded containers named IC3_TeamsContainerType. Each chat note creates its own container, but the containers seem to be in development and not yet finished.
Teams is enhancing collaboration by allowing users to attach/share files in chats with external users. This feature will streamline file sharing in 1:1 and group chats, making it easier to work with guests.
The text editor in Teams for chats and conversations has been redesigned for the first time since the introduction of Teams.
Similar to Outlook emails, Teams chats now support the side-by-side experience in the Edge browser.
