Microsoft has unified the Plus (+) and Tools menu in Copilot Chat to simplify how users add grounding, tools, and sources when prompting in Microsoft 365 Copilot.
The unified Plus (+) and Tools menu consolidates related actions into a single entry point for better discoverability and faster input setup.
The update applies to both types of Copilot Chat users (without and with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license).
Timeline
The rollout should be completed in March 2026.
What is changing?
Previously, users could use the Plus (+) and Tools as standalone menus in Copilot Chat.
Now, Microsoft has unified the Plus (+) and Tools menus into one, replacing multiple menus for adding grounding, tools, and sources. This should help users add entities (files, sites) and update sources from a single location.
The previous standalone Tools menu in the prompt box has been retired.
