Disallow reactions in Outlook emails

Outlook has supported reactions in emails since October 2022.

  • Outlook on the web supports reactions in emails
  • The new Outlook for Windows supports reactions in emails
  • The Outlook mobile apps for iOS and Android support reactions
  • Classic Outlook supports reactions in emails depending on the Microsoft 365 Apps Release Channel. Reactions are generally available from release 2308.

Outlook symbolizes reactions in the email or in Outlook notifications.

Microsoft announced a usability update for reactions last September.
Supported apps have been extended with an option to deactivate reactions in emails.

The option for reactions is disabled for recipients in the configuration.

The specification could be used to generally deactivate responses with an Exchange Mail Flow Rule. Microsoft describes the necessary steps in its update.
