Microsoft is retiring Loop components in OneNote for the web. Once this change takes effect, users will no longer be able to insert Loop components while working in OneNote for the web.

How does this affect your users?
Microsoft introduced Loop components in OneNote for the web in April 2024 (via MC777847). Now, Microsoft is retiring this capability, following the retirement of Loop components in Word for the web in September 2024. This retirement affects all users who access OneNote for the web and currently use Loop components.
- After the retirement, users will no longer be able to insert new Loop components into OneNote pages in the browser.
- Existing Loop components embedded in OneNote pages will not be removed. These components are automatically converted into links that open the corresponding Loop component in Loop on the web, where users can continue viewing and editing the content.
The full Loop component experience, including insertion and inline editing, remains available in the OneNote desktop app for Windows, at least for now.
