Microsoft is retiring the Learning Coach agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot. Users should transition to the Learning Agent for learning recommendations, skill development guidance, or personalized learning support.
Timeline
- Microsoft has already removed the Learning Coach agent for new users.
- Existing users can use the agent until October 2026.
How does this affect your users?
Microsoft introduced the Learning Coach agent in October 2024, as one of the first prebuilt Copilot agents.
In June 2026, Microsoft released the Learning Agent to general availability, meaning two Learning agents were then available. However, in May, Microsoft had already published a third AI Learning Advisor agent.

New users can no longer discover the Learning Coach. They can no longer search for or install it.

Except if users have access to a shared agent link. New users can still access the Learning Coach if someone shares the agent link, which is unnecessary, as the agent will be removed in October.

- Existing users can continue accessing the agent until the first week of October 2026. After that date, the agent will no longer be accessible through Microsoft 365 Copilot. Microsoft will remove all existing Learning Coach experiences, entry points, and associated functionality.
- AI administrators can continue to see and manage the agent in the Microsoft Admin Center until the second week of October 2026. After that, the agent will be removed from the Admin Center and will no longer be available for administration or deployment.
Users and conversations do not migrate automatically from Learning Coach to Learning Agent. Organizations relying on Learning Coach must transition users to Learning Agent before the deadlines above to avoid disruption.
Note:
Some parts of the Learning Agent require a Viva Premium license, such as Viva Learning Standalone or Viva Suite.
