OneDrive Mobile app blocks SharePoint Server sign-ins starting in June 2026

OneDrive for iOS and Android will no longer support sign-ins using SharePoint Server on-premises accounts starting in June 2026. Sign-ins with personal Microsoft accounts and Microsoft Entra ID accounts are not affected by this change.

  • This change applies to SharePoint Server 2016 and 2019.
  • SharePoint Server Subscription Edition is unaffected only when OpenID Connect (OIDC) authentication is configured.
  • Microsoft also reminds that support for SharePoint Server 2016 and 2019 will end on 14 July 2026.

Timeline

The rollout to OneDrive on iOS and Android should be completed in June 2026.

How does this affect your organization?

Users who currently sign in to the OneDrive iOS or Android app with SharePoint Server on-premises credentials will lose access once the change takes effect. OneDrive mobile sign-in now requires Microsoft Entra ID for organizations, enabling enforcement of Conditional Access policies that are not available with on‑premises authentication. To continue using the OneDrive mobile apps, affected users must sign in with either a personal Microsoft account or a Microsoft Entra ID account.

Microsoft describes how to configure OIDC authentication for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, which uses Entra ID for authentication.
