Microsoft is retiring the Designer integrations in Teams as part of consolidating image generation into a single, more capable experience. This change affects the Designer app in Teams, including chat and channel integrations.
This retirement does not affect Microsoft Designer for personal use, at least for now.
Timeline
The retirement in Microsoft Teams is already in progress and should be completed in February 2026.
How does this affect your users?
Microsoft is retiring the Designer integrations in Teams, which are provided through the Designer app. The Designer Teams app ID is 1a69c0fd-6ec8-488e-8900-ff3a2fcf5f51.

This app includes the standalone Designer experience, chat and channel integrations, and the channel banner feature (if available in your country).
If the service has already been retired in your tenant, Designer will consistently return an error.
Something’s wrong on our end. Please try again later.

If users ask the Designer bot to create an image in chats or channel conversations, the bot will no longer respond.

The bot has left your organization and has been replaced by Copilot.
Users should use the AI image generator in Copilot Chat or the Create experience to generate images.
This is also a reminder that Microsoft already restricted Designer in Teams to Copilot-licensed users in January 2025, as posted in message MC982567.
