Microsoft Teams expands video clip duration to 5 minutes

Microsoft is extending the Teams Video Clips recording limit from 1 to 5 minutes, allowing users to share richer asynchronous video messages across desktop, web and mobile clients.

Timeline

The rollout is planned between May and August 2025. The update is available for all platforms.

Impact for your users

Users can now record Teams Video Clips up to 5 minutes long for more comprehensive updates, training snippets, or onboarding content. Previously, the limit was one minute.

This change has no impact if video clips are disabled in your tenant.
Teams administrators can disable or enable video clips via a messaging policy and the property AllowVideoMessages.

This setting determines if users can create and send video messages.
