New Teams Premium experience in the Teams Admin Center

Microsoft is adding a new Teams Premium admin experience to the Teams Admin Center. This update aims to streamline the admin experience by allowing admins to discover, monitor, and manage Teams Premium on a single page.

Timeline

The rollout will begin mid-February and is expected to be completed by March.
To use the new experience, Teams admins need at least one Teams Premium license in their tenant.

Impact on your organization

Before this rollout, admins had to navigate multiple portals to manage licenses, view usage reports, and adjust settings.
After the rollout, admins will benefit from the following:

  • Manage Teams Premium licenses
Admins can view license information, assign licenses to users, monitor license utilization, and review end-user license requests. Users need the role License Administrator or Global Administrator to manage licenses.

  • Review Teams Premium licenses
The new experience offers detailed information on Teams Premium licenses, including total count, assigned count, unassigned count, and license requests.
License administrators with a Teams administrator role can assign licenses purchased from the Microsoft 365 Admin center, with a deep link provided for easy access.

  • Monitor Usage
Admins can track feature usage through the Teams Premium usage report, identifying opportunities for further adoption.

  • Manage Settings and Policies
The Feature Advisor provides a comprehensive view of all settings, including the status of configuring and deploying Teams Premium features, highlighting any pending actions needed for full utilization.

This new admin experience does not change any aspect of Teams Premium but provides an additional management method within the Teams admin center.
