The rollout should be completed in March 2025. This update specifically impacts Teams for Windows.

Impact on your users

All users will experience the following changes.

  • First, the account presence will be displayed differently. Users will now see their current presence status in the system tray menu, allowing for quick status changes.
  • Second, the Open option will be removed from the system tray menu. Users can launch the Teams app by selecting their account name in the system tray.
  • Third, the update will consolidate the Teams icons for users signed into both personal and work accounts. Previously, two icons were displayed in the taskbar.
  • Fourth, the enhancement does not support multiple work accounts. You see one work and one personal account but not two or more work accounts (if added to the Teams client).
