Microsoft is retiring the web-based Share to Teams experience in Outlook. Starting late September 2025, the feature will only work with the Teams desktop app installed. Users without the client will no longer see the standalone web dialog and will be prompted to install Teams instead.
The legacy Saved app in Teams Mobile will be retired and replaced with a new, integrated Saved experience. Users can now re-save previously saved messages to make them available in the new experience.
Outlook will soon stop rendering inline SVG images, displaying blank space in their place. SVG files sent as attachments will still be accessible from the attachment area.
Microsoft will remove the legacy Teams calendar, making the new experience the only option with no ability to opt out.
The Word feature “Transform to Web Page” will be retired. Users should use Microsoft Sway to create web content from Word files.
Microsoft is retiring Microsoft Mesh in December 2025, along with other Mesh products.
Rendering of Loop components in Word for the web will be retired in September 2025, shifting to read-only placeholders.
The Speaker Coach feature in Teams will be retired due to feedback and usage evaluations.
A key update is coming to a Teams policy: the MeetingRecordingOwnership setting will transition to default recordings being saved in the meeting organizer’s OneDrive.
The Microsoft Lists mobile app for Android and iOS will be retired. Users should use the mobile browser experience, which offers more features and updates.
SharePoint Alerts will be retired in SharePoint Online. To get a report of all alerts in your tenant, it’s recommended to run the SharePoint Assessment Tool.
Present Live in PowerPoint for the web will be retired. Microsoft recommends switching to PowerPoint Live in Teams.
Microsoft has retired the Work Feed in Edge New Tab. The Microsoft 365 Work feed is now history.
Microsoft announced the retirement of Project for the web, project apps in Teams, and Project Roadmap (Teams app and web) for August 2025.
Microsoft will retire the code snippets feature for Teams chats and channels. Users should use code blocks as an alternative.
Microsoft will remove the properties grantedTo and grantedToIdentities from Microsoft Graph. The properties were relevant for SharePoint permissions. There is version 2 for the properties.
The Feed app will be removed from Outlook Mobile, making the Feed tab inaccessible.
The “Shared with us” feature on SharePoint team sites will be retired. Users can utilize “Shared with me” in OneDrive for a personalized view of shared files.
The ability to create personal pages in SharePoint will be soon be retired. Users are encouraged to create pages connected to SharePoint sites instead.
Microsoft is retiring the SharePoint “Spaces” feature. Users will lose access to their Spaces pages by August 2025. I wrote an export script.
