As announced at the end of June, Microsoft is now terminating the existing Office 365 E3 Developer subscriptions, a few days later than scheduled.
Microsoft does not send an email notification about the termination. They simply disable the subscription with a remark the subscription will be deleted. At least I did not receive an email to my billing or Global Administrator account.
Organizations that still have an Office 365 E3 Developer subscription should check the current status. Mine was disabled in the past 24 hours and will be deleted in just a few days. This subscription does not follow the legacy subscription lifecycle, meaning users have no grace period.
- The termination only affects Office 365 E3 Developer subscriptions or SKUs, not any other subscriptions in your tenant.
- If this is your only subscription in the tenant, you should read the information about unlicensed tenants.
Microsoft recommends customers should transition to a standard Microsoft 365 or Office 365 suite to preserve existing user data and workloads.
