Microsoft reminds that Microsoft Publisher will be retired on 1 October 2026. Microsoft 365 users will no longer be able to open or edit Publisher (.pub) files.
This retirement affects anyone who currently relies on Publisher to create things like flyers, business cards, calendars, envelopes, or other branded materials. The good news is that most of these tasks can already be done in Word or PowerPoint, both included in Microsoft 365 subscriptions. Users looking for design inspiration or ready-made layouts can also turn to Microsoft Create, a free library of templates covering many of the same use cases Publisher was commonly used for.
Anyone who still needs to use Publisher files should migrate or convert content to Word or PowerPoint before the October 2026 deadline, since access through Publisher will no longer be possible afterward. Read more at Microsoft Publisher will no longer be supported after October 2026.
