Microsoft has introduced a high-usage report for Microsoft 365 Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) services. The report identifies internal users who consumed around 2,000 PAYG Credits in the last 30 days, a threshold at which switching to a Microsoft 365 Copilot license with unlimited credits becomes cost-effective. License administrators can assign such a license directly to those users, provided licenses are available.

But there is a catch
Currently, Microsoft offers three PAYG services.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, starting at $0.01 per message.
- SharePoint Agents, at $0.01 per message.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot Retrieval API (Preview, requires at least one Microsoft 365 Copilot license in your organization), at $0.10 per API call.

At $0.01 per credit, 2,000 PAYG Credits is just under the $21.00 monthly price of a Microsoft 365 Copilot Business license. For Enterprise organizations, a Microsoft 365 Copilot license starts at $30.00, which corresponds to 3,000 PAYG Credits.
