Microsoft introduced AI-generated audio briefings for SharePoint news in Viva Connections. This new feature offers a hands-free way to stay informed on key news posts, complete with playback controls for play, pause, skip, and adjustable speed. It’s similar to Teams meeting audio recaps—just for SharePoint News.
The AI-generated audio briefing is part of the news reader experience in the Viva Connections app, available in Teams or on the web.
The News reader provides users with SharePoint news from across organizational sites, boosted news, followed sites, frequent sites, and people the user works with. News items are presented as cards in a clean, immersive reader experience through the News tab.

Users can now listen to concise AI-generated audio summaries of SharePoint news directly in Viva Connections, improving accessibility and supporting multitasking scenarios where listening is more convenient than reading.
The experience delivers AI-generated audio summaries of the latest 10 SharePoint news posts, played sequentially in the Viva Connections app for Teams desktop and the browser.
- AI-generated audio briefings are available by default for users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.
- The feature currently supports English-only news posts. Other languages are skipped.
- News posts are surfaced from users’ followed sites, frequent sites, trending sites, the home site, organization news sites, and content published by people they work with.
- All content respects audience targeting and user permissions.
- Teams Mobile integration is not yet available. Although the feature is visible in the Connections app, playback is not yet supported.
