Microsoft has released new Defender Security and Purview Compliance add-ons for organizations with Microsoft 365 Business Premium licenses. At the same time, the Viva license with Glint has been removed.

New licenses
Microsoft Defender Suite for Microsoft 365 Business Premium
As announced in March, organizations with Microsoft 365 Business Premium can now extend their licenses with a Microsoft Defender Suite. This add-on provides features previously only available with the E5 Security add-on for Enterprise customers. Previously, it was an add-on offered through a Microsoft partner, but can now be ordered directly through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
The Defender Suite for Microsoft 365 Business Premium is limited to 300 seats and includes:
- Microsoft Entra ID Plan 2
- Microsoft Defender for Identity
- Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Plan 2
- Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 2
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps
Note: The Defender Suite does not include Microsoft 365 Business Premium. Both licenses must be purchased separately.

Microsoft Purview Suite for Microsoft 365 Business Premium
In July, Microsoft announced the Microsoft Purview Suite for Business Premium users. The suite provides capabilities similar to the E5 Compliance add-on for Enterprise organizations, but is limited to 300 seats and includes:
- Insider Risk Management
- Communication Compliance
- eDiscovery Premium
- Audit Premium
- Information Protection Plan 2
- Data Lifecycle & Records Management
- Advanced Data Loss Prevention (incl. Endpoint DLP)
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps
Note: The Purview Suite also requires a separate Business Premium subscription.

Microsoft Defender and Purview Suites for Microsoft 365 Business Premium
This SKU combines both suites, much like E5 Security and Compliance add-ons for Enterprise. Limited to 300 seats.
A combination of the solutions offered in Microsoft Defender Suite for Microsoft 365 Business Premium (complete set of threat protection solutions) and Microsoft Purview Suite for Microsoft 365 Business Premium (complete set of intelligent information protection and compliance solutions).

Removed licenses
Microsoft Viva Suite with Glint
The Viva Suite license with Glint (MCA product ID CFQ7TTC0J7VH) has been removed. Organizations can still purchase Viva Suite (CFQ7TTC0J7V7) and Viva Glint (CFQ7TTC0MN4B) separately.
Professional Direct Support for Microsoft 365
The support license Professional Direct for Microsoft 365 (MCA product ID CFQ7TTC0JFHH) has been removed.
This support license was described as:
Professional Direct paid support offering for Microsoft 365 which includes 24×7 reactive support, escalation assistance from Service Delivery Managers, training, and fast response times. A ProDirect license is required for each user under the customer’s tenant up to a maximum of 500 seats. 20 seat minimum purchase required.
Microsoft still offers Professional Direct Support for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform (MCA product ID CFQ7TTC0R53R).
