New Agent Link web part for SharePoint Agents

Microsoft has released a new web part for SharePoint Agents: Agent Link
This web part allows site owners to place a clickable link to a configured SharePoint Agent directly on a page. When clicked, the agent opens in the sidebar experience, providing contextual assistance without leaving the page.

Timeline

Rollout is expected to be complete in August 2025.

Impact for site owners

Site owners can now add the Agent Link web part to a SharePoint page.

The web part can be linked to a SharePoint Agent from the current site or another site. Site owners can also choose the display size (small, medium, large) and decide whether to show a title.

Once the page is published, users can click the agent link to open the sidebar. This lets them chat with the agent while staying on the same page. The web part provides a lightweight, user-friendly way to connect with AI assistance at the point of need.

Note: The Agent Link web part is currently not supported in mobile apps or emails.

Requirements

Licensing

Users need either a Microsoft 365 Copilot license or a Microsoft 365 Pay-as-you-go setup for SharePoint Agents. Without either, users will still see the web part, but the sidebar will not open the agent. Read this page for details about SharePoint Agent licensing.

Permissions

Users must also have access to the agent. Capabilities vary depending on site permissions. Read the SharePoint Agent help and FAQs for details.
