Marketplace replaces “Purchase services” in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center

Microsoft is updating the left-hand navigation in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center to improve clarity and consistency. The update is already available in newer tenants and will soon roll out to all tenants still using the old navigation.

This is a minor visual update only and does not affect existing workflows or permissions.

Timeline

The rollout should be completed in December 2025.

Impact on your organisation

In older tenants, the left-hand navigation includes a Billing > Purchase services section in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

In my newer tenants, this section has already been replaced with a Marketplace level instead of Purchase services.

It was confusing that some tenants displayed Marketplace while others showed Purchase services, despite both sections being identical in content and functionality. The difference was purely cosmetic, just a name and position.

Now, Microsoft has confirmed all tenants will align to the new structure.

What will change?

  • The Purchase services node will be retired.
  • A new Marketplace node will appear as a top-level (L1) item above Billing in the left-hand navigation.
  • Again, this is a visual and navigational change only, no impact on functionality, permissions, or workflows.

This adjustment likely ties into Microsoft’s ongoing new billing experience, which began rolling out last year.
