Microsoft renamed Copilot Studio messages to Copilot Studio Copilot Credits on 1 September.
Starting on September 1, 2025, the common currency for agents changed from messages to Copilot Credits. There’s no change in the quantity per prepaid pack or to the pay-as-you-go rate.
Microsoft mentions this change in the latest Copilot Studio licensing guide (September 2025 edition), and the documentation about Copilot Studio licensing has also been updated.
Copilot Credits
Copilot Credits are a measure of the time and effort required for an agent to retrieve information and respond to prompts and any actions/custom skills the agent uses. The number of credits decremented for each response or action is dependent on the complexity of the task completed by the agent.
Other changes related to the updated Copilot Studio Copilot Credits (great naming choice, Microsoft):
- The Copilot Studio Message pack (25,000 messages per month) has been renamed to Copilot Studio Credits pack.
- The Pay-as-you-go option is now called “Copilot Studio Pay As You Go Copilot Credit.”
- Pricing remains unchanged at 200 USD per credit pack per month.
