Changes for feedback policies in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft continues to update the management of feedback in Teams. Following the migration of the first feedback policies last September, Microsoft is now migrating the “Survey feedback”. Teams for Windows, Mac, and the web will use the Microsoft 365 Cloud Policy service, replacing the previously used Teams-specific feedback policies.

The current change does not yet apply to Teams mobile apps, which will continue using the existing Teams feedback policies until support is added in a future update.

Timeline

The change affects the “Survey feedback” and is scheduled for late June and July 2025.

How does this affect your feedback policies in Teams?

Microsoft is simplifying feedback policy management for Teams on desktop and web. These versions of Teams will use the feedback policies configured in the Microsoft 365 Apps admin center, replacing the separate Teams-specific feedback policies. Support for Teams mobile apps will be added later; until then, mobile apps will continue to use the existing Teams feedback policies.

Teams admins could configure Teams feedback policies to control whether and how users were allowed to send feedback to Microsoft.

Other Microsoft 365 products are using feedback policies through the Cloud Policy service in the Microsoft 365 Apps admin center.
Below are some of the key policies currently available:

Microsoft mentions two relevant points for this change.

“Give a compliment” and “Report a problem” feedback

The “Give a compliment” and “Report a problem” feedback have already been migrated to the Cloud Policy service last September (see MC790791).

Users get a screen like this. Check the options for including screenshots, uploading files, or whether Microsoft can contact the user directly.

Admins can configure these options via policies in the Cloud Policy service.
These are the relevant policies:

  • Allow users to submit feedback to Microsoft
  • Allow users to submit limited feedback to Microsoft
  • Allow Microsoft to follow up on feedback submitted by users
  • Allow users to include log files and relevant content samples when feedback is submitted to Microsoft
  • Allow users to include screenshots and attachments when they submit feedback to Microsoft
Survey feedback

As Microsoft describes, the current change affects the “survey feedback” when Microsoft asks users to provide feedback.

The “Give a compliment” and “Report a problem” experiences have already migrated to the Cloud Policy service. With this update, survey feedback will also be governed by the same Microsoft 365 Cloud Policy that controls other in-app feedback entry points. There is no change in how users submit feedback.

Admins can find the required policy in the Cloud Policy service, named “Allow users to receive and respond to in-product surveys from Microsoft“.

View user feedback as an admin

As an admin, you can view feedback submitted by your users.
To do this, go to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Health > Product feedback. All feedback from your users will be listed there. Visit the documentation for more information.
