Today, users with no active Loop service plan can use Loop Workspaces without any limits: loop.cloud.microsoft
Unlicensed users can create new workspaces (unless disabled by the organization via a cloud policy) and invite internal accounts to the workspace.
This grace period ends on 31 December 2024. It was previously 31 March 2024 and was later extended to December 2024. Loop has been informing affected accounts about the situation for a long time, but less clearly than in the past.
As Microsoft states in the help.
- The license requirement affects Shared Workspaces. Personal Workspaces (with content such as Copilot Pages and Ideas) use the SharePoint service plan.
- Any internal person can collaborate in a Shared Workspace, even if the account is not licensed for Loop.
- Unlicensed accounts cannot create new Shared Workspaces and cannot add or remove other members from the workspace.
It’s the “Microsoft Loop” service plan in a qualified license, service plan ID c4b8c31a-fb44-4c65-9837-a21f55fcabda.
