Last week at Ignite, Microsoft announced two upcoming additions to the Microsoft 365 Copilot license.
- SharePoint Advanced Management Add-on will now be included in Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- The full version of Viva Insights will now be included in Microsoft 365 Copilot.
SharePoint Advanced Management in Microsoft 365 Copilot
Microsoft introduced SharePoint Advanced Management Plan 1 (SAM) in April 2023 and bundles various SharePoint features in the add-on.
One of the features is “Restrict discovery of SharePoint sites and content” (Restricted Content Discoverability, RCD for short). Restricted Content Discoverability is in Public Preview and should be GA by the end of March 2025.
RCD enables organizations to temporarily exclude sensitive SharePoint site collections (OneDrive excluded) with known, incorrect permissions (oversharing) from search results until the permissions are fixed.
When RCD is applied to a site, the following endpoints will honor the restriction:
- Tenant-wide search in SharePoint Home, Office.com, and Bing.
- Microsoft 365 Chat in Teams
- Copilot in Bing at Work
- Copilot in Office application, such as Copilot in Word, when searching for information or files across the tenant
The integration of the SAM add-on into Microsoft 365 Copilot is planned for early 2025. In addition to RCD, other SAM features are available for licensed Microsoft 365 Copilot accounts, see documentation.
Viva Insights in Microsoft 365 Copilot
In addition to Viva Insights in Microsoft 365, a full Viva Insights standalone license is also available.

At Ignite, Microsoft introduced new control and analytics possibilities for Copilot.

Copilot Analytics is designed to empower every IT and business leader to measure adoption and business impact of Copilot and agents – with out-of-the-box experiences (Copilot Dashboard & Microsoft admin center) and customizable reporting for deeper analysis against your KPIs. With Viva Insights included, IT admins and analysts can now tailor advanced prebuilt Copilot reports with their business data or create custom reports with organizational attributes, longer usage data sets, and more granular controls.
Copilot Analytics is a component of the new Copilot Control System, designed for IT to confidently adopt and accelerate the business value of Copilot and agents. Copilot Analytics can be accessed via Microsoft 365 admin center, the Copilot Dashboard and Viva Insights.
Copilot Analytics should be included in Microsoft 365 Copilot in early 2025. Viva Insights will also be included in the license.
